A man has been arrested after a woman had her car stolen at knifepoint in Edinburgh.

The 22-year-old driver had parked her white Peugeot 208 behind the Scotmid store at Morvenside Close in Wester Hailes when the robbery took place on Tuesday afternoon.

She told police she was approached by a man who threatened her with a knife, demanded her keys, then drove away with another man in the passenger seat.

Police Scotland said a 47-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

He is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday and a report has been sent to prosecutors.
