A 14-year-old boy has been seriously injured in an attack by two dogs which had escaped a property.

Wiltshire Police said the teenager was taken to hospital after the attack in Ryeleaze, Potterne, near Devizes at about 21:30 BST on Thursday.

His injuries are not thought to be life-changing, the force added. The two dogs have been seized and police said they were trying to establish their breed.

"We appreciate how horrendous and distressing this incident must have been for the victim, his family and those who witnessed it and we are taking it very seriously," said Insp Simon Garrett.

A spokesperson for the force added that the owner of the dogs had been identified and would be interviewed in connection with the incident.

"We understand the significant concern it will have caused and additional officers will be in the area for reassurance," Garrett added.

Anyone with information, questions or concerns is encouraged to speak to officers.
