A High Court case brought by a council to try to stop an unauthorised traveller development near a nuclear weapons facility will continue into next month.

West Berkshire Council was granted an injunction in December restricting further development and occupation of the site south of Reading Road, opposite the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) in Aldermaston.

The case was due to finish this month but did not conclude within the time allocated.

A further one-day hearing will take place at the High Court on 8 July to allow additional evidence to be heard, with a decision expected at a later date.

AWE maintains and develops the UK's nuclear warheads.

Its Aldermaston site, along with nearby Burghfield, plays a key role in the country's Trident defence programme.
