Shop blaze prompts warning to residents

Firefighters tackling a shop blaze in Derby have urged local residents to keep doors and windows shut.

Crews from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene on Cardigan Street in Chaddesden, at about 09:15 BST.

An aerial ladder platform and crews from Alfreton, Ascot Drive, Kingsway and Nottingham Road stations were sent to the scene, and on their arrival they "were met with a well developed fire through the roof of the property".

All people were accounted for, the fire service said, adding members of the public should "avoid the area while emergency services deal with the incident".
