The body of a man has been recovered from the sea in Brighton, according to police.

Emergency services were called to Brighton beach at about 06:40 BST after concern was raised for a person in the water, Sussex Police said.

A spokesperson said: "The body of a man was recovered from the sea, and sadly, he was pronounced deceased at the scene."

The man, who has not been identified, was found near Sea Lanes swimming pool on Madeira Drive.
