Sophie Egerton and Jamie Fulford appeared at Salisbury Magistrates Court on Friday afternoon

A man and woman have appeared in court following the death of a five-week-old baby boy almost four years ago.

Jamie Fulford, from Tournament Road in Salisbury, Wiltshire, is charged with murder and causing or allowing harm or death to a child.

Earlier at Salisbury Magistrates Court, the 26-year-old spoke only to confirm his name and address during a short appearance. He was remanded in custody ahead of a bail hearing on 12 May at Winchester Crown Court.

The baby's mother, Sophie Egerton, 22, of Tournament Road, also appeared in court - charged with causing or allowing the death or harm of a child - and was granted unconditional bail with a further hearing scheduled for 5 June.

Wiltshire Police said the baby was taken to hospital with serious injuries on 1 September 2022 and died eight days later.

On Friday, the court heard the baby was called Jaxon and that Fulford and Egerton had lived together since the death.
