Police said five people were injured in the collision

A man has been arrested after a car crashed into a pub and injured five people.

Emergency services were called to the Merchants Arms on Merchants Road in the Hotwells area of Bristol at 21:28 BST on Sunday. Two of the injured people were taken to the Bristol Royal Infirmary, but their injuries were not thought to be serious, the ambulance service said.

Officers arrested a man on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs. He remains in custody, a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said.

Anybody who witnessed the collision or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage is asked to contact police.
