The Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) covering Huntingdon town was implemented on Thursday

A Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) is in force in a town to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour, including public urination and vandalism.

Police said the PSPO, which gives officers additional enforcement powers within a specified area, covers Huntingdon town centre. It will be in place for three years, subject to annual review.

It was implemented on Thursday by Huntingdon District Council, which has been working alongside Cambridgeshire Police, after a public consultation.

Neighbourhood Insp Colin Norden said: "With this order in place, we can respond more effectively to the concerns of residents and businesses."

"This PSPO gives us the tools we need to address persistent issues, such as anti-social behaviour including street drinking, public urination and defecation, vandalism and other activities that disrupt public spaces," Norden added.
