Britain's most decorated World Gymnastics Championships athlete said showing his nan his medals is "one of my favourite things".

This made him the first British male gymnast to win two individual medals at the same World Gymnastics Championships.

Jarman started training at Huntingdon Gymnastics Club in Cambridgeshire in 2011 and returned there on Monday to proudly show off his medals.

"It's one of the things I look forward to the most after coming back from a competition if I've come back with medals. It's to be able to show friends, family [and] the gym club," he told BBC Look East.

"But one of my favourite things is when I get home and I go visit my nan and I get to show her the medal and she gets all excited and tells me, 'Oh, it was such a nerve-wracking competition to watch, I was just so pleased for you'.

"It's stuff like that that makes it worth it."

Looking ahead, he hopes to get to the British Championships in March, followed by the European Championships.

The gymnast also has a move named after him, "The Jarman", after he completed 3.5 full rotations in the air during the floor exercise at the Paris World Cup in September 2023.

He was the first athlete ever to do so.

"I always try and be grateful for who has helped me on this journey; for example, when we're in that little tunnel before we walk out into the arena I just sit and think about people like my nan, my parents, my coach and friends who helped me get through those tough training sessions," Jarman said.

Olympic silver medallist and BBC Strictly Come Dancing winner Louis Smith MBE also trained at Huntingdon Gymnastics Club.
