Driver seriously injured after car hits tree

A driver suffered serious injuries after the car he was travelling in hit a tree in Derby.

A BMW left Warwick Avenue just after 15:30 BST On Wednesday and crashed into a tree before coming to rest on its roof, police said.

Derbyshire Police added the driver, a man in his 20s, remained in hospital with serious injuries.

Warwick Avenue was closed until just after midnight, said the force, which has issued an appeal for witnesses.
