CCTV footage released four years after man shot dead
Merseyside PolicePolice have shared CCTV footage of four males they wish to speak to in connection with the murder of a man four years ago.
Sam Rimmer was 22 when he was shot on Lavrock Road, in the Dingle area of Liverpool, at 23:40 BST on 16 August 2022.
Two electric bikes had driven into the cul-de-sac and fired a number of shots towards him and other males, a Merseyside Police spokesperson said.
Senior investigating officer, Det Ch Insp Steve McGrath, said the newly released CCTV footage captured four males about an hour before the shooting "potentially in possession of a firearm", adding: "We continue to carry out extensive enquiries to find these individuals."
Rimmer was taken to hospital following the shooting, but was pronounced dead a short time later.
CCTV footage shows four males next to a playground off Cockburn Street, in Dingle, at 22:30 on 16 August 2022.
"I appreciate no one is going to recognise the faces of the males by watching the CCTV," said McGrath.
"But we hope that it could jog someone's memory, who knows the males by their clothing or use of the bikes in the location from around that time."
"Although it's dark and the males are wearing face coverings, detectives believe they are acting suspiciously and could be in possession of a firearm."
So far 10 people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Rimmer, but no one has been charged.
Handout/Merseyside PoliceMum Joanne Rimmer has previously urged anyone with any information about her son's murder to come forward: "If I see justice for his murder, maybe the family and I can begin to move forward and remember the happy memories of Sam."
She said the passage of time since her son's death had "not eased the pain".
McGrath maintained the force remained "just as determined to find the people responsible for Sam's murder as we were four years ago".
He said police had made a number of arrests as part of their investigation, and had received a lot of information from the public, but "we just need the final piece of the puzzle".
"We are certain that someone out there knows who is responsible and could end the family's agonising wait for answers."
A reward of up to £20,000 is being offered by Crimestoppers for information which leads to the conviction of anyone involved in the murder.
