Cat lovers will head out on a guided walking tour of Brighton to meet some of the city's feline residents and raise money for an animal rescue charity.

Organisers said participants on Sunday's Brighton Cat Tour could expect to see about 25 of the animals during a 3km walk around the city, with proceeds supporting a local shelter.

The tour begins at 10:15 BST and will take people through neighbourhoods where owners have volunteered to introduce visitors to their pets.

Organisers said there was also the possibility of "bonus cats" being spotted along the route.

Participants have been advised to wear suitable clothing and bring snacks and water for the journey, but have been asked not to bring cat food with them.

Cats along the route should only be fed with permission from their owners, using food provided by them, organisers said.

Two hundred enthusiasts took part last year, with 105 homes registering interest after a TikTok video promoting the walk reached almost 100,000 views.

The walk, which raised money for City Cat Shelter in Coldean, was inspired by a viral cat tour in Toronto, Canada, in 2024, organiser Stefan Gutierrez said.
