A man arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life following a fire at Loughborough Town Hall has been released on bail, police said.

Leicestershire Police said officers were called to a report a fire had been started in the toilets of the building at 19:30 BST on Wednesday.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service also attended and confirmed there were no casualties.

A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and later released on bail, police confirmed.

Loughborough Town Hall previously said in a statement that the building was evacuated as Wednesday evening's show "That'll Be The Day" was about to begin.

A spokesperson for the town hall confirmed on Friday it had reopened to the public.

"All scheduled shows and events due to take place will now go ahead as planned. Our first show will be this evening's performance of Vampire's Rock: Eternal Love – The Musical.

"Discussions regarding a re-scheduled date for That'll Be The Day are ongoing. Please be assured that all customers being contacted once this is confirmed," the spokesperson added.
