Fires and barbeques banned at national park
BBCPeople in Jersey have been banned from lighting fires or barbeques at a protected nature reserve in St Ouen.
St Ouen's Honorary Police said, due to current high winds and lack of rain, the risk of fire was "extremely high" and, as a result, people could not light fires at La Mielle de Morville National Park for now.
Jersey Fire and Rescue Service warned any wildfire under current conditions could become extreme and Jersey Water said responding to wildfires put pressure on water resources.
The National Trust, which protects parts of the park in St Ouen, asked islanders to use "common sense" when accessing its land in the hot weather.
Honorary police officers said they knew the warm weather was "perfect for getting outdoors" but asked people to "please respect these restrictions and help us protect our beautiful countryside and keep everyone safe".
They also reminded people that fires, barbeques and camping were also "never permitted" at Grantez Dolmen.
