Three sentenced over fire that destroyed five cars

Three men have been sentenced over a fire that destroyed five cars in Grimsby.

Humberside Police said it was called to reports of suspected arson on Barmouth Drive in the early hours of 14 October 2025. No one was injured, the force said.

Jason Gladding, 36, of Columbus Way, Grimsby, David Maddison, 38, and Gary Mills, 42, both of Beeson Street, Grimsby, appeared at Grimsby Crown Court on Tuesday.

Gladding was jailed for eight years and four months, while Maddison was jailed for four years. They both pleaded guilty to arson at an earlier hearing.

Mills admitted to perverting the course of justice and was given a 12-month suspended sentence.

A fourth man, Matthew Somerfield, 40, of no fixed abode, also pleaded guilty to assisting an offender.

He will be sentenced at Hull Crown Court on 31 July.
