Ten-year-old Elsie met Frank Lampard after Coventry's win over Portsmouth on Tuesday

The mum of a 10-year-old Coventry City fan has praised manager Frank Lampard for presenting her daughter with his Championship title shirt.

Elsie and her mum Melissa attended the game against Portsmouth on Tuesday with a "We love you Frank" sign in hand.

After the game was over, Lampard spotted the pair on the front row, waved at them and "flew over the barrier" to give Elsie a big hug as he presented her with his Champions 26 commemorative shirt, Melissa said.

She added her daughter had taken it to school the next day to show to her classmates.

Melissa said: "We're absolutely buzzing. She woke up with a big smile on her face [the next morning]. She came into bed with us and slept with it - she wants to put it on one of her toys."

The Sky Blues last finished top of the second tier in 1967 and this is the first time they have finished top of a table since then.

A draw at Blackburn on Friday ended Coventry's 25-year wait for Premier League football.

Speaking about the team's success, Melissa said: "I couldn't believe it was 25 years the other day - I keep thinking where has the time gone. Seeing all these scenes, is such a good time.

"I don't think I'll stop smiling until the season starts again."
