Murder arrests after man found dead in town centre

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man in his 40s was found dead.

Emergency services were called in the early hours after the man was found unresponsive on Astley Gate in Blackburn town centre.

Lancashire Police said the death was being treated as unexplained and inquiries into the cause of death were ongoing.

As part of their investigation, a man in his 20s and a woman in her 30s have been arrested and remain in custody.

Det Chief Insp Mark Dickinson said: "At this early stage we are keeping an open mind regarding the cause of this man's death.

"We have a dedicated team of officers and staff assigned to this case who are carrying out enquiries, and I am keen to hear from anyone who may have any information or footage which could help.

"Even if you think the information you have is unimportant, please contact us so we can assess whether it is relevant."

"I am aware that hearing about this may cause some concern in the community. We have increased reassurance patrols in the area, and we are doing all we can to piece together exactly what happened."
