Police have seized a samurai sword and a semi-automatic gun along with £70,000 in cash after a series of drug raids.

Cocaine and MDMA were also found alongside the firearm and ammunition, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

GMP said four men, in their 20s and 30s, were arrested and five more later came forward themselves.

All nine have now been released on bail pending further inquiries.

The raids followed an investigation into an aggravated burglary in Whalley Range on 18 May when drugs worth £20,000 were found alongside the pistol.

Armed police then raided eight properties in Moss Side, Levenshulme, Moston, and Harpurhey.

Det Cons Katie Havens said the raids had "prevented dangerous weapons and illegal drugs from reaching our streets".
