Man charged with road traffic offences after cyclist hit by car

A man has appeared in court charged with road traffic offences after a cyclist was hit by a car in Aberdeen.

Emergency crews were called to the scene near the junction of Rousay Drive and Lang Stracht, close to the Tesco supermarket, after the 19-year-old rider was struck on Friday evening. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police arrested a 37-year-old man who has now appeared in court accused of assault to injury and danger of life, as well as offences under the Road Traffic Act 1988.

He made no plea and was granted bail, while the case was committed for further examination.
