McFly first act announced for Ludlow concerts

McFly are the first act to be announced for a series of concerts at Ludlow Castle next summer.

The Live at Ludlow Castle events have been running since 2023 and this summer 50,000 people visited over two weekends.

McFly were formed in 2003 and are famous for songs such as Five Colours In Her Hair and All About You.

They are due to appear at the castle on 25 July 2027 and the promoters, Futuresound Group, said more announcements would follow. Tickets will go on sale to people in the Ludlow area from Wednesday, and they go on general sale on Friday.

An agreement was signed this summer to continue the concerts until at least 2033.

Jack Tavernor, CEO of Powis Estates which owns the castle, said it would "keep Ludlow on the map."

Futuresound said they brought more than £1m into the town in 2025.

Earlier this year, Ian Evans, chair of Ludlow Chamber of Trade and Commerce said his shop saw a 25% increase in trade while the concerts were on and described them as a "massive event" for the town.

This summer eight 6,000 capacity, open-air shows featured artists including Snow Patrol, Paul Weller, The Human League, Tom Grennan, The Streets, Rick Astley, Richard Ashcroft and Scissor Sisters.

They were supported by Corinne Bailey Rae, Miles Kane, Marc Almond, The Lightning Seeds, Heather Small and CAST as well as up and coming acts such as Ellur, The Florentinas, Versaints and more.

McFly shot to fame with their debut album Room on the 3rd Floor, which entered at number one in the UK Album Charts, making them the youngest band ever to do so.

They took that record from The Beatles.

After five albums they joined another band, Busted, in 2013 to form the "supergroup" McBusted.

In 2018 they announced they would be taking a break to focus on solo projects, but are performing again with what Futuresound said was their "biggest and boldest offering yet".
