A drug dealer who admitted trying to crash a police car on a dual carriageway has been jailed for just over seven years.

Charlie Storkey, 21, who was understood to be handcuffed at the time, was being transported to Essex by officers in the unmarked car when it made a sudden stop on the A47 near Norwich on 6 October.

Storkey, of Beverley Road, Norwich, pleaded guilty to attempting to cause danger to road users by interfering with a motor vehicle.

He had also pleaded guilty to supplying crack cocaine and heroin. Earlier this month he was sentenced to 18 months in jail for the motoring offence and a further 67 months for drug dealing at Chelmsford Crown Court.

The police car involved was forced to make a sudden stop on the A47 Norwich Southern Bypass, between the Trowse A146 and Ipswich Road A140 junctions, Norfolk Police said in November.

Storkey was originally charged with two counts of attempted murder after the incident.

After a review of the case, a spokesperson for the Crown Prosecution Service said in November, there was "not enough evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction" for attempted murder and those charges were dropped.
