Murder probe after man's body found in caravan
Leicester Media OnlineA murder investigation is under way after a man's body was found in a caravan in a lay-by in Loughborough.
Leicestershire Police said a report of a sudden death in Derby Road was made at about 23:40 BST on Monday. East Midlands Ambulance Service attended and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Inquiries have since found the man, who was in his 40s, had reported being involved in an altercation in the days before he was found, the force said.
A 56-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
Det Insp Mike Chandler, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said: "I've got a dedicated team of officers working to understand what's happened in this altercation and the events that led to the death of this man.
"Officers will be in the area of Derby Road over the coming days, carrying out enquiries and forensic investigations.
"A cordon will remain in place while these enquiries are carried out."
