Two men in hospital after serious crash closes road

Two men have been taken to hospital after a multi-vehicle crash that has closed a major road in Chesterfield.

Emergency services were called to reports of the crash involving a van and several cars on the A61 at about 07:10 BST on Wednesday.

Derbyshire Police said the southbound carriageway of the road, between the Hornsbridge roundabout and Tesco, in Lockoford Lane, would remain closed for "some time".

The force said a man had been arrested in connection with the crash.

Emergency services added traffic was building and advised drivers to avoid the area or allow more time for their journeys.
