Officers have appealed for information following a "high value theft" of decorative lead from a historic tower in Caithness.

The Grade A listed Ackergill Tower was built in the early 16th Century and is situated on the coast of Sinclair's Bay, north of Wick.

Police said the stolen lead was considered an integral part of the tower's heritage status.

They said the theft is thought to have occurred between the end of March and the beginning of April. Anyone with any information is being urged to get in touch.
