Levi Williams appeared at Peterborough Crown Court and pleaded guilty to manslaughter

A jockey has admitted killing a man following a fight outside a pub.

Richard Wingrove, 71, died during the incident involving four people outside the Waggon and Horses pub in Newmarket, Suffolk, on 8 March 2025.

Levi Williams, 26, of Holland Park, Newmarket, was originally charged with murder, but prosecutors instead accepted his guilty plea to manslaughter at Peterborough Crown Court on Friday.

Williams was bailed and is due to be sentenced on 4 June at the same court.

Wingrove was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge in a critical condition and died 10 days later.

Two other men sustained injuries during the altercation and were taken to hospital before being discharged.

Williams was arrested at the scene, initially on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm.

A 24-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, and a 45-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of affray, have been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
