Woman seriously hurt after bus and Porsche crash

A woman on a bus was seriously injured when a Porsche crashed into the vehicle before driving off.

The incident happened on Liverpool Road in Birkdale, Sefton, near to the junction of Alma Road, at about 12:55 BST on Wednesday, Merseyside Police said.

A force spokesperson said officers were called out to a report of a grey Porsche being involved in a collision with a single decker bus, with the Porsche driver failing to stop.

The woman, in her 70s, was was travelling on a bus heading in the direction of Birkdale railway station, was taken to hospital where she remains in a serious condition.

Det Sgt Kurt Timpson appealed for anyone with information or footage to contact police.

"In particular, I am keen to speak to anyone who saw the incident or the build up to it," he said.

The incident happened outside the Cove Birkdale cafe and community hub.
