Houses without water and roads closed after main burst

Large parts of Northampton are without water and several roads are closed after a main burst.

Closures are in place in the Duston area from Mendip Road to Cotswold Avenue and Chiltern Avenue to Malvern Grove and Bants Lane.

"The closures are likely to remain in place for a few hours and people are advised to avoid the area," the fire service for Northamptonshire said.

In a statement on its website, Anglian Water added: "We're working hard to find out what's going on."

It said some people may have no water at all or lower pressure than normal.

Police officers have also been called and thanked people for their patience as the emergency response continued.
