Three suspicious fires investigated in Teignmouth
Steve WalshPolice have launched investigations after three separate fires had to be tackled in two days in one district.
On Monday at 22:35 BST, officers were called by the fire service who were tackling a fire in the clinic building on the grounds of Teignmouth Hospital, on Mill Lane in Teignmouth, which also spread into a nearby building.
Police said no injuries were reported and the incident was being treated as suspected arson.
It added that two other fires were also being investigated. On Sunday, the fire service attended a blaze in a garden on Fourth Avenue and a shed fire on Coleman Avenue on Monday.
The service said the other two fires were being treated as suspicious and inquiries were ongoing to establish whether they were linked.
Teignmouth Hospital said it remained open and that people should continue to attend appointments as planned "unless they hear directly from us".
It said the fire affected the building used by its community midwifery service and Devon County Council services.
The hospital said it was working with colleagues and partners to put "alternative arrangements in place for those services and will contact anyone whose appointment needs to be rearranged or relocated".
