Free swims to mark pool's 50 year 'milestone'
PA MediaA pool is offering free swimming sessions to families to mark its 50th anniversary.
Taunton Swimming Pool in Somerset opened in May 1976 and is "special to so many people," the council said.
Free swimming sessions are taking place on Monday at 12:45, 13:45 and 14:45 BST.
"We're thrilled to celebrate 50 years of Taunton Swimming Pool within the local community, which is an incredible milestone for us," said Mark Washington, contract manager at Everyone Active, which runs the pool.
The 33m pool closed in 2013 to undergo a £1.2million revamp when new boilers, changing rooms and reception areas were fitted.
The free 60-minute swimming sessions are open to all ages and abilities.
"It's our way of thanking our community for their continued support over the last five decades, and we can't wait to welcome everyone to our much-loved facility," Washington said.
Councillor Federica Smith-Roberts, lead member for communities at Somerset Council, added: "Taunton Swimming Pool is special to so many people and celebrating 50 years is an amazing achievement.
"Generations have enjoyed using the pool, including me and my family."
