A second body has been found following a search for two missing kayakers who were last seen in north Wales more than a week ago.

The body of Simon Wilson was found in the sea near Llwyngwril, Gwynedd, at about 19:20 BST on Tuesday 28 July.

He was one of two men reported missing on 21 July. The pair were last seen near the beach off Hafan Y Môr holiday camp in Pwllheli at 18:30 and were believed to be heading towards the sea with inflatable kayaks.

The body of the other missing man, Connor Parfitt, was discovered on a beach in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, on 26 July. Wilson's family and the coroner have been informed.

"This is not the outcome any of us had hoped for, including the teams involved in the searches.

"Thank you to partner agencies, volunteers and members of the public, who assisted in our searches.

"We would request that both Simon and Connor's family's privacy are respected."
