The interim census will record everyone in every household living on the Isle of Man on 26 April

This year's interim census has been tasked with recording the details of every member of every household living on the Isle of Man on the evening of 26 April.

Letters are due to be delivered to homes across the island from 20 April to give more details of what is required.

The Cabinet Office said the island-wide snapshot of population statistics would "inform decisions about key services such as healthcare, education, housing, and transport".

The last full census on the Isle of Man was held in 2021, recording a population of 84,069.

Cabinet Office Minister David Ashford said it was "an important opportunity to take a snapshot of life on our island and to ensure that the information government uses to plan services, shape policies and for decision making reflects the Isle of Man as it is today".

The interim census will contain a shorter set of questions than the one used in the full census of 2021.

It will "still provide vital insight into population and communities," said Ashford.

More information about the census and how it should be completed is set to be released later this month.

A full census is held once a decade on the island, with an interim survey held at the halfway point.
