A man has been jailed after attempting to rape a member of staff at a holistic health centre.

Asim Akhtar, 22, attended the centre in Milton Keynes on 13 December 2025 for a back massage when he sexually assaulted the masseuse.

He then became physically aggressive towards the victim and attempted to rape her, Thames Valley Police said.

Akhtar, of no fixed address, was found guilty at Aylesbury Crown Court, on Monday of intentional strangulation, attempted rape, sexual assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Akhtar was arrested on the day of the attack and charged the next day.

Det Con Jessica Dolphin, from Thames Valley Police, said: "This was a horrific incident in which the victim was subjected to both sexual and physical violence while carrying out the job she loved.

"Understandably, the defendant's actions have had a profound and life-changing impact on her.

"Without her bravery in coming forward and supporting the case, this outcome would not have been possible."

She added that she would encourage anyone who had been a victim of sexual abuse to come forward.

"You will be listened to and supported by experienced officers and staff," she said.
