'Massive confidence boost' as dads learn haircare

A man has been given a "massive confidence boost" after taking a course to help fathers learn how to style their daughters' hair.

Simon Burke attended Pitches and Ponytails in Wolverhampton with 23 other dads to learn some simple techniques they could try on their children.

He said he had never signed up for anything like it before but was encouraged by his partner to take part.

"It was a well worthwhile evening and really interesting to learn new things, and I've been applying what I've learnt," he said. "Dads seem much more involved in things now and it's good."

"I could do a ponytail but not to the level that they showed us, so to learn more was really great."

The event was organised by the Wolves Foundation, a charity attached to the city's football club, which said it wanted to inspire confidence amongst attendees.

Jade Sutton from the foundation said the class was a sell out, which was "quite a surprise".

"Speaking to some of the dads, as I have, it's something that's very much needed and gives them a bit more confidence, especially around the morning routine."

She added that the focus was on learning basic haircare and styling tips, "nothing too taxing".

Sutton said haircare could be "quite traumatic" for some dads, but the class "gave them confidence".

"One dad said they couldn't wait to get home and do their daughter's hair."
