Two men killed in separate road crashes in County Antrim

Both men were killed in separate road traffic collisions in County Antrim

Two men have died following separate road traffic collisions in Co Antrim on Wednesday.

Philip McMeekan (52) from Comber, County Down, died when his motorcycle crashed on the Shore Road in Carrickfergus.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) received a report at about 19:25 BST of a crash involving a Triumph Rocket motorcycle.

Officers attended, alongside other emergency services, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dashcam footage to come forward.

Herbie Kelly, 82, died in a separate crash

Separately a man in his 80s was killed following a two-vehicle collision in Cullybackey.

Herbie Kelly, 82, who is from the area, was initially given medical treatment but died at the scene.

Police received a report of the collision approximately at 21:25 BST in the Ballyconnelly Road area.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital but his injuries are not believed to be serious.
