Vandalised car park to reopen after £463k revamp
GoogleA council-owned car park temporarily shut in January after extensive and sustained vandalism is set to reopen after a £463,000 refurbishment.
Stafferton Way car park in Maidenhead was closed after the damage made it "unsuitable for public use", the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead said.
The council said the refurb at the 476-space facility would "protect the asset for the future and provide a safer, more welcoming experience for residents, commuters and visitors."
It said a new CCTV network had been installed throughout and additional security measures fitted to service areas to prevent unauthorised access.
The authority said all lighting was now energy efficient and controlled by smart sensors. Bay markings have been repainted to improve the car park's usability and appearance.
Some redecorating will continue over coming weeks but the council said that would be "managed to minimise any disruption to users".
Chris Moriarty, the council's cabinet member for corporate services, transformation and asset management, said: "The improvements at Stafferton Way car park demonstrate our commitment to protecting and enhancing our assets for the long term – ensuring our borough remains an attractive place to live, work and do business."
