Fire crews tackle garage and warehouse blaze overnight

Fire crews have been tackling a major blaze at a garage and a furniture warehouse overnight.

Eight engines were at the fire on Fernhill Road, Bootle, at its height, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) said.

It added that the fire was reported at 20:23 BST on Tuesday.

Residents were advised to keep their doors and windows closed and road closures were put in place. MFRS said crews remained at the scene but advised motorists to avoid the area.
