Chance to meet newly-elected politicians

People will be able to meet politicians voted in at Jersey's general election earlier this year as part of a week-long event.

The island's Democracy Week is being held for the seventh time with a series of tours of the Royal Court and States Assembly and walks discussing Jersey's political history.

The States Greffe said a new addition to the event will be three Democracy Cafe sessions for islanders to come along and discuss topics that are important to them.

Jenny O'Brien, head of digital and public engagement at the States Greffe, said the week would be the "perfect time" for people to meet newly-elected members of the States Assembly.

"In addition to all the public events, we're delighted to be working with schools, colleges, charities and sports clubs, connecting their communities with States Members to have meaningful conversations," O'Brien added.

Events are running until 26 September with more details about the week on the States Assembly website.
