Police closed Inchinnan Road in Renfrew following the crash

The rider of an "illegal" e-bike is in a critical condition in hospital after crashing into two female pedestrians in Renfrew.

The women, both aged 69, were also injured and taken to hospital for treatment.

The crash happened on the town's Inchinnan Road at about 14:25 on Tuesday, and the road was closed for several hours for investigation work.

Police Scotland later described the bike as "illegal" and said inquiries into the crash were ongoing.
