Who are they?
Mackay and Greer succeeded Lorna Slater and Patrick Harvie as the party's co-leaders in 2025.
The latter pair led the party into government with the SNP. Greer played a key role in agreeing the power-sharing deal, which came to a dramatic end in 2024.
Gillian Mackay
From Grangemouth, Mackay was elected at the last election in 2021, aged 29. She was the first Green MSP to represent Central Scotland.
She successfully brought forward a member's bill at Holyrood creating buffer zones around abortion clinics, preventing any protests or vigils taking place within 200m (656ft).
US Vice-President JD Vance criticised the bill last year, falsely claiming people who live within safe access zones had been sent letters by the Scottish government warning them about praying within their homes.
Mackay has Meniere's disease, an inner-ear disorder that can lead to vertigo and hearing loss. The MSP describes it as a hidden disability.
She is a huge Star Wars fan and met her husband through a costuming club dedicated to the franchise.
Ross Greer
Greer became an MSP in 2016.
In recent years, he served as the party's education and finance spokesman, having previously held culture, skills and Europe briefs.
Greer, a member of the Church of Scotland, ran a club for young Christians at his secondary school. He is still involved with his local church.
He also loves Warhammer - the fantasy war game played with small, paintable figures.
What were their routes into politics?
Gillian Mackay
Mackay has described herself as an "accidental" MSP, having applied for an internship with the Greens due to a lack of opportunities in marine science. She later took up a role as a party staffer.
Before then, Mackay told the BBC's Podlitical that she had not been politically engaged. Although she is now an MSP for a pro-independence party, she voted No in the 2014 referendum.
Ross Greer
Greer joined the Greens aged 15 and served as a member of the Scottish Youth Parliament.
He cut short a degree in politics and psychology to take up a job with Yes Scotland ahead of the 2014 independence referendum.
Greer became Holyrood's youngest-ever MSP when he was elected aged 21 a decade ago.
What are their top priorities?
- Free bus travel for everyone in Scotland
- Expand funded childcare to cover babies aged six months and up
- Tax wealth and polluting industries to pay for public services
- Deliver net zero climate emissions by 2045
