Three arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in north Belfast.

It follows the serious assault of a man inside Eithne House in the New Lodge area of the city.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Duncairn Parade at about 18:00 BST on Monday.

A man in his 30s and two men in their 40s were arrested.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Sinn Féin councillor JJ Magee described the assault as a "serious incident".

"My thoughts are with the victim and I would encourage anyone with information to bring it forward to police immediately."
