A 16-year-old boy is in hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed in a fight at a country park in Nottinghamshire.

Police were called to reports of an altercation involving groups of people at Newstead and Annesley Country Park, in Newstead, at about 17:00 BST on Tuesday.

A 16-year-old boy was found with stab injuries and taken to hospital. A second victim was also found to have suffered minor injuries.

Nottinghamshire Police said a 16-year-old boy was later arrested on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm with intent and remained in custody.

Det Insp Ian Smith said the force expected "the country park to have been busy" due to the warm weather and appealed for anyone with any information to contact officers.

He added: "It is also important anyone with relevant dashcam, CCTV, doorbell or mobile phone footage gets in touch without delay.

"Officers will remain in the area today to carry out further inquiries, speak to local people and offer reassurance."
