Cyclist dies three days after car crash

A cyclist who was left in a critical condition after a collision with a car has died.

Police said they were called to reports of a cyclist being hit by the driver of a white Mercedes CLA 180 Sport car on Chartwell Road in Norwich just after 17:00 BST on Friday.

A man aged in his 50s was taken to hospital with serious head injuries and died on Monday.

David Morgan, 40, of George Winter Court in Norwich, appeared before magistrates on Monday charged with attempted murder and driving with excess alcohol. Norfolk Police said it would discuss the charges further with the Crown Prosecution Service.

He was remanded until his next appearance at Norwich Crown Court on Monday 8 June.

The force had already said that the Mercedes driver was arrested in Bignold Road in the city by 19:00 on Friday.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage or information relevant to the collision to contact them.
