A man has been seriously injured and taken to hospital following a "targeted" stabbing in Worcestershire.

The incident happened at Woodbury Road in Kidderminster on Friday morning, with the man, in his 20s, said to be in a stable condition.

Det Insp Dave Knight, of West Mercia Police, said: "We are working hard to locate the person or people responsible, and our communities can expect to see a heightened police presence in the area.

"At this stage, we believe the suspect is known to the victim and it was a targeted attack with no threat to the wider community," he added.

Knight added the incident had not taken place on school premises and also said it was not connected to the nearby primary school."
