E-scooter rider, 17, critical after hit-and -run crash
PA MediaA 17-year-old girl who was riding an e-scooter has been left in a critical condition after a crash with a van in a hit-and-run crash.
Police said the teenager, who was riding with another 17-year-old girl, was injured when their e-scooter crashed with a Mercedes Vito on Great George Street in Liverpool, just before 01:30 BST.
Merseyside Police said the 57-year-old van driver failed to stop but was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and failing to stop.
The force said the second teenager was also arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, drug driving and driving without insurance.
Police have appealed for witnesses or any doorbell or CCTV footage.
Det Sgt Simon Duffy from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "This was a very serious collision that has resulted in a teenage girl in hospital, where she is currently in a critical condition."
