Overnight M62 closures: What you need to know
Getty ImagesPart of the M62 motorway will be closed overnight for several weeks from next month as work to replace a safety barrier on a bridge is carried out.
The motorway will be shut in both directions between junctions 22 for Denshaw and Oldham and junction 24 for Huddersfield between 20:00 and 06:00 BST.
National Highways said it was to allow for essential safety work on Scammonden Bridge which would see the existing aluminium parapet replaced with a new steel one.
It added: "Our upgrades are vital to the long-term safety and integrity of this structure."
National HighwaysThe first overnight closure will take place from 12 to 27 May, with further work planned for 19 June to 9 July and 6 to 25 August.
During the closures, traffic will be diverted from junction 22 via the A672, A58, A646, A629 and then back onto the M62 at junction 24.
The B6114 road, which runs over the bridge in Kirklees, will also be closed to the public for six months from the start of the work, which begins on 20 April.
National Highways said lane closures on the B6114 would not "give us a safe working area" and that diversions would be in place.
National Highways said all the closures were necessary to "protect both road users and our workforce".
