Man, 24, dies in South Lanarkshire motorway crash

A 24-year-old man has died in a one-car crash on the M74 northbound in South Lanarkshire.

Police were called to the crash involving a silver Mazda 2 about four miles from junction 13 near Abington at about 05:00 on Friday.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin are aware.

The road was closed for investigation for about six hours, and anyone with information is urged to contact police.

Sgt Ross Allison said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died."
