Councillor dies after years of 'dedicated' service

Councillor Mike James represented Dawlish South West on Teignbridge District Council

A councillor known for giving his time and energy to his community has died.

Councillor Mike James, who represented the Dawlish South West on Teignbridge District Council, passed away this week, the council said.

James was elected to Teignbridge District Council in 2023 and also served on Dawlish Town Council. He was also a governor for Torbay and South Devon NHS.

Robert Steemson, chair of the district council, said James would be remembered as a "dedicated councillor who was committed to helping his community" and sent his condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and all who knew him.
