Man sniffed out by police dog while hiding behind fake wall on 300-plant cannabis farm

A man has been jailed for six months after being found by a sniffer dog behind a fake wall on a cannabis farm.

Albert Hysaj, 42, pleaded guilty to producing cannabis and was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday.

Hysaj was caught after a police dog named Asko located him in the commercial property on the Bowen Industrial Estate, in Aberbargoed, Caerphilly county, in May.

Gwent Police found 313 cannabis plants inside two linked units over three rooms, which included a living area with kitchen and bathroom.

Insp Laura Paget said: "Every cannabis factory we dismantle helps disrupt these illegal operations, which can often be linked to sophisticated organised crime groups.

"Hysaj tried his best to hide from officers inside the building but he could not evade PD [police dog] Asko."
