The cars collided near the junction between the A6089 and the B6364 in Kelso

Two men have died in a crash in Kelso in the Scottish Borders.

Emergency services were called to the collision on the A6089 Edinburgh Road, near the junction with the B6364, at 18:50 on Wednesday.

It involved a metallic green Ford Fiesta and a silver Nissan Leaf. Both drivers, aged 35 and 42, were pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported. Anyone with information is urged to contact police.

The road was closed for investigation and re-opened at about 01:30 on Thursday.

Sgt Jamie Humpage said: "Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of both the men at this extremely difficult time, and our inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this collision."
