Cat rescued by firefighters after five days in tree

A cat has been rescued by firefighters after being stuck in a tree for five days.

Tilly climbed the tree near her home in Lytchett Matravers, Dorset, and her owners had tried everything to coax her down.

Their efforts included bringing in a cherry picker, but she was so high up, they were unable to reach her.

Firefighters went to their aid on Tuesday, bringing Tilly safely back down to earth.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: "After spending an incredible five days perched in a tree, Tilly the cat had well and truly tested all nine of her lives.

"We're delighted to report that Tilly is now back where she belongs, enjoying the comforts of home and, hopefully, keeping all four paws firmly on the ground."
